She went through her first major growth spurt! She gained a pound and grew 1.5"! wow! she'll definitely take after her mama when it comes to her height :)
She started rolling over! She did this several times for several days but then kind of decided she didn't want to anymore - ha ha! But I still try and work with her on it as much as I can :)
She's now eating five 5-6oz bottles a day ... so far so good :) I think it's really helped with sleeping through the night as well
not only does she swipe at her hanging toys, but she grabs onto all her toys as well! This is a little advanced so I'm super proud of her! He favorite toys are her rattle, activity mat, crib mobile, excersaucer, and squishy books (about colors, animals, etc).
she's now considered to be an "assisted-sitter" - she loves to sit up and look at the things around her from a new perspective. She does quite well when propped up by her boppy or sitting in her bumbo seat (side note - I'm aware of the voluntary recall and have ordered a restraint strap for her bumbo. But I also don't put her on a raised surface either!).
She loves to watch TV! Curious George is probably her favorite TV program right now and mine too seeing as it comes on PBS during the times that I'm typically fixing breakfast and dinner :) whoohoo! Chris is afraid that she's already watching too much TV (lol) but I've assured him that she just enjoys all the colors, sounds, and movements and it's good for her development at this stage. Obviously we will set TV parameters when the time is right!
She also loves music (go figure)! We play her lullaby CD at every rest period and it really helps her to fall right to sleep, and we also play her Praise Baby CD during our playtimes together. I've been working with her on clapping to the beat of the music ... oh, and we love to dance too!
By far her favorite part of every day is bath time! Oh how this girl LOOOOVES to play in the bath! She is a fierce kicker and splasher already - mommy usually walks away with a wet shirt! But she is certainly the happiest in the water and she smiles the whole time she's playing. It's the most precious thing we've ever seen!
She also wakes up from every rest period with a huge smile on her face! This is mommy's favorite thing about our days together! I love having such a joyful baby - it sure beats the alternative! Sometimes she's a little too joyful at say, oh, 3am! But it really just melts my heart more than anything else, despite desperately wishing we were both soundly sleeping in our beds instead :)
She enjoys being outside as much as possible and we've just started going on afternoon walks together. I'm hoping that we can transfer that into after-dinner walks soon so daddy can join us (as he so badly wishes he could do).
We've recently changed her nightime schedule a bit in an effort to get her to sleep through the night sooner rather than later. All of our other friends with babies around Audrey's age have been sleeping through the night for weeks (some even months!) but we have yet to experience that! So now, instead of starting her bedtime routine at 6:30pm and putting her down at 7pm, we pushed that out to 9:30pm bath time and 10pm bottle/bed time. We've dropped all middle of the night feedings at this point and she seems to be fine with that. She usually wakes up at least once but will go right back to sleep. Now, when Chris gets home, instead of immediately putting her to bed, he gets way more time with her every day. A much-needed fix!
One thing we've noticed through all of this sleep training we've been doing is that Audrey definitely sleeps her best when she's in her swing. This can be good or bad. She always starts each rest period in her crib, but if I know she hasn't completely finished out her nap, or if we want her to sleep several more hours at one time in the middle of the night, we transfer her over to her swing to help out. I hope this habit can be easily broken as she gets older and starts to enjoy sleep more. I guess we'll see. I keep telling myself that she just needs to get used to these new sleep routines first and then this shouldn't be a problem for us anymore. I hope I'm right :)
And last but certainly not least, she has started the teething process! Chris says he can see a little tooth budding on her bottom gumline, but I can't quite see that for myself. I do, however, feel the ridges on her gums, so perhaps that's something noteworthy. But over the last week she went through all (and I mean all) of the teething symptoms! It is still a little early for this process to begin, but totally possible to start as young as 3 months. So I'm thinking it was just the beginning of what's still yet to come ... but a little practice can help us feel more prepared for when the time finally gets here!
So as you can see, there's been a lot of growing in our baby girl over the last several weeks! Sometimes I just look at her and wonder where my tiny little newborn went? The time has just gone by so very fast! But there are some things I appreciate about her getting older, so I guess it's just a trade off :)
Here are some pics from her 3-month photo shoot with mommy!
