Audrey and I made special plans for daddy's first father's day :) First, we woke him up with breakfast in bed - french toast, scrambled eggs, soy bacon strips, and coffee! yum! Then Audrey put on her special father's day outfit that we custom-made just for the occasion. After some deliberation, we spontaneously decided to take a road trip to Blowing Rock. The weather was GORGEOUS! Perfect day in the mountains - a sunny (yet unseasonably cool) 68 degrees. We got there just before lunch time so we stopped at one of our favorite mountain top restaurants, Canyons, that overlooks the Blue Ridge Mountains, for a delightful lunch. Next we drove to quaint little downtown Blowing Rock and laid out a blanket in the park, where we stayed for the rest of the afternoon. We enjoyed people watching, playing with Autumn, eating Kilwin's ice cream/fudge, and listening to live jazz music. After a few short hours, we packed the car up and took a drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway to the Daniel Boone Inn - our dinner destination :) After a scrumptious southern meal, the day was starting to wind down, so we slowly began to make our way home. It was a beautiful and memorable first father's day for the best daddy in the world!
